Welcome.

Me Me Me

Hello. My name is Brad Bergeron.

I am currently a student pursuing dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Sound and Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan. I am also a musician, web designer, programmer, and tech enthusiast. Many years back, I used to maintain a technology blog that had a few articles that became quite popular around the web. However, in the past few years, my interests and time focus have evolved, and now so has this web site.

My goal is to use this space as an interactive online portfolio and collection of my work, thoughts, and interests. Content will be organized into four categories.

Sound.

Recordings I have worked on, from production and engineering to compositions.

Sight.

Multimedia productions such as web design and development and video creations.

Tech.

Technology and computer-related creations including software and hardware.

Although I may not have a lot of content posted at this time, I will be trying to post more at a consistent rate during this upcoming semester. If you wish to contact or interact with me, check out the Contact page for information.

Listen to "Non-Repeatus" by Kevin McKinney

I recently went into the studio with a trio of students studying Jazz here at the University of Music to lay down some songs written by Kevin McKinney. The best way to summarize their sound would probably be a blend of jazz, fusion, and funk with quite a bit of inspiration found in the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Booker T. and the MG's. I was quite impressed to learn that he only just recently started messing around with MIDI-based computer composition, not to mention that his primary instrument is the saxophone and not piano.

The idea for this trio only began a few weeks ago, and it was through a stroke of luck that I ended up being able to get them into the studio and help record their first collection of demo songs. As is every session I tend to be a part of, I learned a few new things and was able to experiment with different sounds in the control room while the guys were groovin' out in the tracking room. I'd suggest you keep your eye on him and this new, yet-to-be-named trio via Kevin's personal website.

Coming soon.

Tech.

Way back in the day when I used to walk the hallways of Kingsford High School, I maintained a tech blog that some people found quite useful. Some of my postings included a guide on how to install and boot Mac OS X from a small flash drive and a software bundle of automator actions for Apple's Keynote application. The blog, now residing at tech.bradbergeron.com, continues to see a sizable number of readers every month.

One of my goals for this particular section of the site is to showcase the writings, programs, and work I have done/am currently doing with technology. In the not-so-distant future and as it nears completion, I plan on posting and article detailing a project I've been working on for the Digital Media Commons at the University of Michigan Duderstadt Center.
